"I feel stupid and contagious"

I tried to pick a song this time you will probably get. But, I did try to get lyrics that you may get confused about. Hopefully it's not TOO easy...

I got a Fedora today! It's white and has a black fabric flower on the side. It's cute. We'll see if and when I will wear it...Cari said she'd make me wear it to a bar if I got it. I wonder what I would wear with it? (I love hats and buy them if I love them, even if I may not wear them...and I love purses! I just got one at WalMart this week for $10. yay!)

I got the tape of Tony on The Wayne Brady Show in the mail today (from someone on Tony's street team). Heehee. I watched it immediately, of course. He did well. Too bad Wayne didn't show any talking to JC and Tony, since people who were at the taping said they did talk. Oh well...

them damn republicans...

Went to demagogue this morning and found a post with this link. There was a bit of the article on demagogue. My favorite part is when the author calls Kerry a egomaniac. Hello, what do you think Bush is? Can his ego get any bigger? He sure tries hard enough. People, like the one on the link, piss me off when accusing Kerry of terrorist support. Grr Argh

Just finished dinner. We had Blimpie's subs. Mine was yummy. Anyway, when we were in the car, George Michael's "Father Figure" came on. Of course, I have this mental image of Sarah under a sheet pulled across her face, mouthing the words. Also, her in the closet and we only see the hands. I miss Clu Su Gea (apply accent). Anyone know where the name came from? Good times, good times...for more good times, read my previous entry and play my game! Woohoo!

"Shoulda been easier by three our old friend fear and you and me"

In the stereo: telling would be cheaty

OK, new game (not that there was an old one but go with it). Guess the song I put lyrics from as my title. I like having the option to have a title but a lot of the time I can't think of anything to put there. So from now on, I will post lyrics and you can guess. If you are the first to guess correctly, you win. You win my congratulations. YOu didn't think I'd give ya something, did ya? Play, it'll be fun! Today's shouldn't be TOO hard but I thought of a harder one and decided against it.

Anyway, long day today. The kids wouldn't shut up again. When we came back from lunch, I had them put their heads down with the lights off. I don't understand why they have to talk so much.

Nothing else going on, 'cept tomorrow is a teacher work day so I am off. I am trying to talk Jodi into taking off so we can shop together. Her birthday is Saturday (and Cari's best friends b-day is Sunday--so weird!) so I wanna get together. Plus, she may be losing her job. Hopefully not (keep your fingers crossed!). Gotta go rest my back and knee...this workout stuff is taking its toll on me (did I spell the right kind of toll? is there another way to spell it?)

Free scoop was yummy. So, get this. I used to twirl baton right? My second to last year (when I was a freshman in high school), there was a girl in my group who had bad B.O. By my group, I mean girls approximately my age and my ability (we were in a routine together, along with other routines with larger groups). Since she was the tallest and I was the second, we would be near each other all the time in the routine setup. Well, how about she is getting married? The announcement was in the local paper. No one else from my group has gotten married, and she happens to be one of the youngest of "us" (she is 3 yrs younger than me). I saw her a few years ago when I worked at a summer camp and we had training and she was there. I about had a heart attack. I was near her and she didn't smell but whenever I think of her, I remember the B.O. I know it sounds mean, even though I am trying not to be. But I guess I am just getting at that of all of my friends in baton, she would have been the last one I would think would get married. It's just plain weird.

In the stereo: Bush (the band, duh)

Today I had to do a lot of yelling. Yelling gives me a migraine. Yelling makes my throat hurt. I was not happy. A bunch of teachers in the lounge at lunch today said their classes have been very talkative this week...boy was the class I was in today. The teacher told me last night that they probably would be.

It was so cold today. The computer says it is 60 in Germantown now. It didn't get warm until after 2. I got the kids from PE at 2:15 and I was shivering. It was bitterly cold at lunchtime. The portables, where I was today, luckily have their own system so we can adjust for hot or cold weather. The building was freezing today. Every teacher in the lounge at lunch had on their coats. Apparently, even the copy room (which is forever hot, even in winter, and sometimes I wait outside it cuz it is too hot) was cold. Teachers said they tried going in there to warm up but it didn't work. Some were talking about going to their cars to warm up. The resource lady had a space heater in her room so people were talking about that.

Cari and I are going to Philly to see JC May 13th. How about Tony will be in Philly for a special thing for his street team on May 15th. Cari won't stay til Sunday (I said we could get a hotel--we are supposed to spend the 13th with her friend Kate). I can't believe how convenient it would be, since we would be in Philly around the time. But, noooooo. It would be great if Tony opened for JC on the 13th since he would be there soon anyway. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks to Niki for reminding me in an email...I will be going to Baskin Robbins tonight for free scoop night! Lata

if I brought you a bottle of rain would you splash a little on your chin?

In the stereo: JC

it's such a yucky day. I thought it was supposed to warm up but it got colder--I didn't wear a jacket in the morning but I could have used one after school. I was alone until 12:45 today. The aide came in late and apparently she called in for a sub and one never came (hmm...). Guess why she was late? She had the second part of a job interview. So...I am totally crossing my fingers for her to get the job...so I can have her job. How mean is that? I mean, I wanted the job last year but couldn't get it cuz of budget cuts (a bunch of special ed programs were closed so they only took people already working in the county, not new hires). She was supposed to be in today before the kids had recess (cuz she goes with them to recess and lunch). Well she got there after lunch (recess is first). Who knows but maybe she wanted to avoid going to recess and lunch with them. She offered for me to have a break when she got there but I didn't feel like it...cuz I had already eaten (while the kids had indoor recess) and cuz no one I knew was eating then and I didn't know where I would eat (at that time, the staff lounge is usually empty).

ANYWAY. I think I may go read...or something. I wanted to go shopping...but I hate shopping when it's raining outside, cuz I don't want to be wet and I don't want to carry an umbrella. Oh well...

via Sarah's blog, I went to this site and found this link. Enjoy!

I remember reading about him when he went to the war in Iraq. Sadly, yesterday, a former NFL player who gave up his $3+ million contract for the Army died. Read the story here.

we are sorry that our president is an idiot. we did not vote for him.

surfing the crimson wave

I feel yucky. My back hurts like hell. I worked today for the first time all week. I had to stay with the kids for recess and when we had free time outside, so I can feel that I got sun. My face is itchy and so is my right hand (it's always my right hand). I fully expect to get a few bumps by my right middle finger's knuckle tomorrow, where I always get them after being in the sun. I got 3 more jobs from people asking me today. That's the good thing about working, getting more jobs. People usually get me through seeing me, rather than calling me (except special ed though--they call me cuz I am there so much). Now I work all week next week. We have off Friday, though, for a teacher work day.

So sad. We don't get the Wayne Brady Show. Guess who was on today? TONY! So sad...

"I can cry and I'm sensitive"

In the stereo: The Brady Bunch

I am home alone. Cari is at work for the night and mom is at her school's Powder Puff football game, since she is the junior class sponsor. I don't like being alone at night. I like it during the day but not at night.

We watched Clueless today...kinda funny since Cari wrote in her blog about quoting Clueless. Cari and I were saying all the lines through the movie. Love it!

There's been this bunny in our front yard every day for like 4 now. When we see it, it eventually goes away, but obviously it keeps coming back. I took pictures of it today. I liked it on the green grass. Before, I have seen it in our garden, which it blended in with so pictures would look yucky.

So Cari upstaged me with her haircut. I get mine cut on Monday and she went and chopped a ton off yesterday. She was waiting until it was long enough to donate and we didn't think it was so we totally were shocked when we walked into IHOP last night and she was sitting there with short @$$ hair.

Anyone seen the new Britney video? Stephen Dorff is in it. I had no idea he was only 30. I thought for sure he was like 36, at least. He was so young in the Aerosmith "Cryin'" video then. Anyway, he plays her man. They are in a limo and he's basically ignoring her. They get out near a crowd, including photographers. He pushes them down. Then inside, he tears magazines off a shelf and throws them. In a hallway, he kicks over a box. They get in a hotel room and she yells at him, he apologizes and tries to hug her and she pushes him away. Then he throws a vase of flowers against the wall. She goes to take a bath, naked, and goes under the water. You see the doctors working on her in the hospital, then you see him find her in the tub and try to help her. The ambulance comes and there's even someone holding a magazine with her picture out for her to sign...even though she's unconscious! Camera goes back to the hospital, where her ghost is by the way, and they pan in on a lady who gave birth, holding her baby. Then, it goes to Britney bringing her head out of the tub and she's smiling. Very powerful video. I liked it. Someone on imdb commented that now she hates S.D. as an actor after this video. She literally said "all he does is date models and make Britney videos". ONE video means that's all he does? OK, weirdo...

I think I may go watch some General Hospitals, since I am 4 days behind. Nothing else to do until 8:30 for American Idol then The O.C. Bye

Cari now has a blog! Go visit...and if she has comments up, comment too!

Spinner: Party!
Craig: No party, Spin.
S: Girls?
C: No girls.
S: Booze?
C: No booze.
S: Donuts?
C: That, we can do.
S: Then, I'm there!

just watched an episode last night and found that amusing. Also in the episode:

Spinner: [trying to get tickets to a concert] What about you, Marco? Your mom's in the music biz.
Marco: She teaches piano.

Can you see the Tony and JC pic now? I had no idea it was up for so long and no one could see it.

We had no internet all day til now (8 pm). SO frustrating when I actually have the day off.

Got my hair cut. Not too short, but a good amount chopped off.

Who is with me in not being happy the cicadas are coming? I can remember being at Capon 17 yrs ago and them being everywhere. I don't remember the noise though, which I keep reading is really loud. They should be starting to appear in a few weeks. So, we will be at Capon again of course. I don't remember many at home 17 years ago and it turns out that's cuz the land had been dug up since the last batch of cicadas. Now, it hasn't been so there should be more this year. I just read we could have anywhere from 100,000 to 1.5 million PER ACRE. that's crazy. Some expert in the paper said DC is like the center of it all, so they are worst here. He also was saying they won't bother you except if you have big hairsprayed hair they may get stuck in. LOL...ok g'nite

In the stereo: Tyler Hilton

^ He apparently just performed with Tony and Joe Firstman in Dallas so I thought I would check him out. Sounds pretty good.

Anyway, so Cari, mom, and I were driving in the car. Cari says she wants to go to masseuse (sp???) school. I said I want to go to cooking school. Mom asked who would pay for it. Cari said "you" but I said "dad". They had quite a laugh. This is my father who didn't like the fact I majored in early childhood education. He only backed down a little when I decided to double in math. He never backed off Cari's case for majoring in film and video. He loves Cari's best friend Debbie, probably because she majored in bio. He thinks science is the only way to go. He doesn't think people should do what they want, he thinks they should do what makes them money. We don't discuss stuff like that with him anymore, cuz there is no swaying him. Cari and I did tell Eric last year that no matter what dad says, to do what he wants when he grows up. Eric hates science as much as both of us.

Had a Misty float from DQ tonight and thought of Hood and when we first got the slushie machine and Sarah made the first Misty float. I had never heard of them before, cuz back them we didn't have a DQ anywhere near us. I was skeptical but they turned out good and I think this was actually the first time I bought one from DQ.

My back hurts. I may try and bribe Cari again. She wants me to read the Harry Potter books. I want a back massage. I offered to read 1/2 hour of Harry Potter for a 5 minute massage. She wouldn't the other night cuz she was tired but maybe tonight...lata...

PS, Jamie: James and Mardy won the doubles tourney today! Oh, and Tommy Haas beat Andy in the singles final... :(

Can you see me now?

If you couldn't see it before, can you guys see the Tony and JC picture to the right? If not, I will have to figure out where I got it from and repost it too...

ok, so Cari broke my car. That makes twice. A few months ago, she slammed the door closed on the seat belt, the hard part, and smashed my light that's on my door. Tonight, she broke one of my cup holders that everyone loves. I am sad...

So I finally have Matt sticker pictures to submit to the sticker campaign. I have a few others but these were taken with my dad's borrowed digital camera for easier access to getting them online. These are all from Canada. Enjoy! and I will let you know if they make it onto his site!

Oh, forgot to tell you. Today I was informed I am "heartless, mean" and not liked. All by KC (like that's a surprise. I did a good imitation of him to my mom tonight and hurt my stomach. At one point, he was leaning on his desk. Then he progressed to putting up one leg. Then he was laying on his desk with feet off floor. Then he slid down so his hands were on the floor and butt straight in the air. Then Lori called the Vice Principal. Oh, Lori had a laugh over this too: she left me to make a phone call when I took the kids to the bathroom after lunch. KC decides to come over to me and make a biting sound, totally invading my personal space. He was way too close and continued to do this cuz he knew it pissed me off. I had Lori's cookie sheet in my hand which I held in from of him, so he then put his face all over it. Someone else in the class said "is that child abuse?", to which I replied "what? my putting up this and him banging his head on it". Which, of course, led KC to bang his head hard on it. Then I guess he got tired of tormenting me and went over to that other kid and pretended to bite him. It was a long day.

Continue reading my other entry from today...I know I wrote a lot today (for a change!)!

The heat is on...the heat is oo-on

In the stereo: Tony

It's gonna be a long blog today...first, I stole it from Amy, who stole it from others...we're all stealers...but we're not from Pittsburgh (re he he)

1: Grab a book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4, write down what it says:
"rank to your short suit (doubleton, singleton, or void)." guess what book it is!
2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?:
armrest on a chair (not the one I am on duh)
3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?:
"Hey Arnold, the movie" for recess with the kids
4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:
3:55 pm
5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?:
3:57 pm...hot damn...I am good...lol
6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?:
the heat come on (now I have Huey Lewis and The News in my mind, hence my title)
7: When did you last step outside? what were you doing?:
I just got home from work. It's frickin raining again, dag nabbit
8: before you came to this website, what did you look at?
Amy's blog, where I got the idea...
9: what are you wearing?
I just changed into some "big pants" as Parsons would say, and my t-shirt. boring, I know
10: Did you dream last night?:
I usually remember but today I don't so I guess not
11: George Bush: a power-crazy nut case, or...
not my president
12: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?:
Mackenzie Layne or Mackenzie Elise (yes, I have thought about it a lot but I can't decide)
13: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?:
Nathaniel Mason (note my mathematical mind--both first names have 9 letters and middles have 5. Both nicknames--Macy and Nate--have 4. Also, both first names have 3 syllables and if I use Elise, middle names have 2. That's my problem--I like Layne but I wanted the same syllables. I know, it's horrible...)
14: Would you ever consider living abroad?:
The only reasons I would leave this country are 1, if my family is all dead except Cari, cuz she would want to live abroad and I want to be near her, or 2, if the Republicans took over the country for good for many years and it all went down the drain. I did threaten, like Alec Baldwin, to move to Canada if Bush was elected in 2000. As we can see, we both followed through.

Now, no one made a comment about my title from the other day, "I have keg abs". Cari said it. We discussed it again like 2 days ago and I decided to write a song. Wanna read it? I can't write the music but here are the lyrics. Enjoy...lol...

I have keg abs

Woke up today
From a long night’s sleep
Got out of bed
The sun did seep

Through my window
Across the room
Looked at my reflection,
My faithful doom

Chorus:
I have keg abs
Not close to six pack
I have keg abs
and a little fat on my back
Momma always said
That guys don’t like sticks
I have keg abs
Don’t want a pack o’ six

I gave up trying
To get rid of my gut
Stopped drinking beer
Worked on my butt

My legs are fine
My arms are fine too
The tummy stays
Don’t know what else to do

Chorus x2

Anyone remember my write up of the Tony performance in November? There were 4 people/groups performing that night. The first guy (Ricky Fante) was loud with a large band for a small place. Well, tonight one of his songs was featured on One Tree Hill. I heard the name at the end when they mention the music and I was like "wait a minute". I didn't care for him much, mostly probably cuz I had a migraine and he was so loud, but I just think it's pretty damn cool I saw him perform before his debut CD came out (isn't til May) and before he was featured on TV (he is appearing on The Early Show soon--I had to check the web to make sure it was him). OK, g'nite.

She's true to herself...

In the stereo: a mix Cari made

I can't wait to see My So-Called Life on TV again. I totally forgot it was starting again on The N. My problem, though, is the network didn't air the pilot episode. How can it establish a good audience when the background of everything is left out? You don't see Angela dye her hair, you don't see the near beginnings of her relationship with Rayanne and beginning lack of a relationship with Sharon. So much happens in the first episode to set up the show that it's just ridiculous that they aren't showing it. Oh well..."Guns and Gossip" is on tonight, when Brian sees Ricky and another guy with a gun in the hallway.

We saw both "The Prince and Me" and "13 Going On 30" yesterday. Both cute. I cried a bunch of times, of course.

So, I had this dream last night. I was working in a HIGH SCHOOL (ew!) but I don't think I was a sub cuz the teacher was in the class too. Maybe I was student teaching. Anyway, 2 of the kids in the class were characters from Degrassi...how ridiculous is that? I think that is at least my second Degrassi dream...Maybe it's cuz I freakin miss the show and we need to have new episodes in the States when they air in Canada too (did I mention we watched the season finale when we were in Toronto, even though we haven't seen like 8 episodes?) OK, off to have crepes for dinner...mmmm...

"I have keg abs"

In the stereo: many cds

Happy Cari Birthday! She's skipping 23 this year cuz we can't be the same age and I am 23 forever, so as of today, she is older than me.

I am home! Canada was exciting. We relaxed a lot and didn't do awfully much. We went to Corning, NY one night and went to the Corning Glassworks, which was nice. Then we went to Toronto for 4 nights. Hotel was really nice, in the middle of the city. Had 4 or 5 places to eat inside. Parked 4 floors down, having to go down STEEP hills underground--kinda scary. I like just visiting places and not doing too much. For Jamie, the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing hockey in the street near our hotel with kids and adults in about 6 or 10 different games. Kinda cool, except some guy (NOT a Maple Leaf) came near me cuz the ball came over there and yelled at me to get out of his way--hello, I was walking on the sidewalk! Your ball came up on it! Dammit...

Then, we went to Niagara for 2 nights. This hotel was even nicer than the one in Toronto. It had these HUGE fluffy comfy beds and a view from our room onto the Horseshoe Falls. Even the cot was a regular mattress that stood on one end to move it (not a folding kind)--never seen that before. This was only around $100 Canadian per night! Amazing! We went to the casino our last night. None of us, even mom, had ever been to one before! So, I set myself a limit of $100. We only playing slots and this "Jacks or Better" game, that was a machine and cost a quarter (Canadian) each time. I got addicted to the latter and got in my rhythm (I'm so superstitious--If I start winning without moving, I won't move. For example, at one point, I was holding a batch of quarters in my left hand and I held it until I left that machine, cuz I was doing well, even when my hand went numb). I lost one whole $20 on the slots. Then I started the other game, using a $20 that I got change for. I did really well, and when we left and I changed in my quarters, I got back $27.25, so all night I only spent $12.75!!!! I was so proud of myself! I thought I would get so addicted and attached to the casino I wouldn't leave, but I pleasantly surprised myself! Yay, me!

So, we had a great time but it is so good to be home. I found an email when I got home that Tony now has a blog (see sidebar!). Also got an email that Matt Morris is now selling shirts on his site! One kind is already sold out. 3 are totally not my style and I am even hesitant about the regular t-shirt. It says "I have seen Matt Morris", which I haven't, and I don't like the placement of the picture on the front of the tee. We'll see if I get one...

Dad sent Cari an email that pissed me off. I won't go into it but I am just so frustrated with him. AND I am sick and tired of all this "when I'm gone" talk. STOP FREAKIN' TALKING LIKE YOU'RE GONNA DIE NEXT YEAR. IT MAKES ME UPSET. My little rant for the night...speaking of rants, though, Tony goes on little political ones. It's amusing. One thing about him though is he isn't a great speller, or he doesn't check it much. He has lots of mistakes...which is a big pet peeve of mine. Whatever...still love him! Lata, ladies!

PS, Tony will be opening 3 places for Sophie B. Hawkins (they are on the same label). This is quite exciting, that he will open for someone "known" other than his friends!!!
